Cooking with your Family
Cooking with your family is fun. But, above all, it is important to remember that for children to appreciate the kitchen and learn how to prepare scrumptious food, we need to take into consideration a few aspects and be minimally organised.
For this, teach them to:
. Wash their hands thoroughly;
. Use an apron to avoid dirtying their clothes;
. Plan: separate all the ingredients necessary: bowls, plates, spoons, tins and recipients that will be used;
. Safety: remember your children that they shouldn’t play with fire. Don’t let them handle sharp objects nor light the stove.
. Be careful when pots and pans are on the stove (when on the stove the handle facing inwards).
Making home made pizza can be loads of fun, especially if you have children, seeing as it is a reasonably easy recipe, lets get to it!!!
Preparation time: 1 hour
400g wheat flour
1 package of instant yeast
2 dl of hot water
1 pinch of salt
1 dl of olive oil
2 garlic cloves
1 can peeled tomato
200g grated mozzarella cheese
1 cube vegetable stock
Oregano (Wild Marjoram)
Blend all the ingredients for the base of the pizza (flour, yeast, water, pinch of salt, olive oil) and kneed. After well kneeded, place in a bowl and cover it with a kitchen tea towel, in a warm location, to rise. It should double in size. Kneed the dough again and stretch the dough on a large tray greased with butter and let rise a little more. While the dough is rising, prepare the topping, in a blender mix the tomato, garlic cloves and vegetable stock. Add the oregano and flavour with salt and pepper just before putting it on the base. Spread the sauce over the base and then sprinkle with grated cheese. Cook in a pre-heated hot oven for approximately 30 minutes. Serve warm with a rich vegetable salad.
SUGGESTIONS: You can vary your pizza by adding ingredients that you like, such as: salami, peppers, onion, olives, mushrooms, ..., all you need is imagination and have fun!
