In 1968, we provided companies with price labelling machines and respective labels. We soon began to sell pressed cardboard packages, packaging machines and films to facilitate food packaging and storage…

One year before the first man on the moon, we released this Japanese novelty in Portugal. Now everything had a price, except for imagination.

Portuguese families were given a new way of storing food in the year of the first live satellite TV broadcast.

In the year of the Carnation Revolution, we “revolutionised” the way we took garbage out. We presented our customers with the concept of using Plastic Bags for garbage.

We have settled in Figo Maduro, in our first production unit, in the same year the first Coke was sold in Portugal. At the time, we were already attending events.

Fashion has changed in the 80s and we kept up with trends by changing our ‘looks’. And so, we created utility bags to store clothes – blankets, shirts and knitwear.

One year prior to the sales of the first Apple Macintosh computer, Silvex was expanding its business! We upgraded our facilities and were already selling several articles: films, bags, mops, wipes, straws, ties…

Portugal signed the Treaty of Accession to the EEC and we replaced the old ice cube trays by the first ice cube bags.
|
The World Wide Web (www) was presented to the world, marking the beginning of the Internet access era. In Portugal, consumers were already able to store food at room temperature or in cold storage for 10 years now.

A year full of changes for Portugal and for Silvex. Via Verde was presented for the first time and Silvex changed its location to Benavente, to a plant built from scratch!

Portuguese fashion was revolutionised by the 1st Portugal Fashion, and Silvex released a new trend with its ice cube bag innovation – automatic sealing.

The Portuguese writer José Saramago won the Nobel Prize of Literature and we “wrote” our first brand book with our new rebranding and brand guide.
|
We started the new century in the best way possible by presenting a new innovative product to the world - Paperlike.
|
In the year the Euro was adopted as the EU official currency, we began our internationalisation by exporting products made in Portugal to other countries.
|
Portugal is living Euro 2004, and everything is a reason to celebrate. We created the first multi-purpose bag that can be used to steam cook using the microwave, safely store food and quickly freezing it.

We created crushed ice bags and developed an antibacterial garbage bag with a sliding tie.
|
We created Portugal’s first 100% biodegradable bag.
|
We created ice sticks for bottles and developed the XL cling film.
|
Our ice bags were considered Product of the Year.

We created the 100% recycled garbage bags range.

In one of the hottest years of our century, we modernised the market with a new way of making crushed ice and we “took care of the garbage” with antibacterial garbage bags.
|
A year after the Portuguese invention of Pluma – the lighter, 100% recyclable gas bottle – we released a champion item: Portugal’s first biodegradable bag. Manufactured with corn starch and other natural plasticizers that degrade in landfills within a period of 14 to 40 days.
|
In the year Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded with his 1st Ballon D’Or, we released the innovative ice sticks to cool bottles and added 5cm to cling film. The final 35 cm cover the whole plate.
|
The Portuguese Miguel Neiva created the universal colour code, ColorADD, therefore “colouring” the colour-blind world. Silvex’s first and most complete ice bags range was considered product of the year in Portugal.
|
The Treaty of Lisbon became effective in the same year we presented a long-lasting range – garbage bags manufactured from 100% recycled material.
|
Plant expansion to 13.000m2 was initiated.
|
We created the first 100% biodegradable, compostable cling film.

Fourth rebranding and new concept “Fleximagination".

We developed the project Agrobiofilm®, an innovation for the agriculture industry.

The Portuguese João Garcia became the 10th world climber to climb Mount Everest and Benavente saw a building on the rise. Benavente’s was expanded in more than 9.000m2.

Fado was added to UNESCO’s list of World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage and we released a new item, the world’s first biodegradable, compostable cling film.

When saving is key in Portugal, we invested and changed our image and came up with the concept of Fleximagination – flexible imagination.
|
We released biodegradable mulch film for agricultural activities – biodegradable plastic made with corn starch and other vegetable oils that preserves the environment.
|
It was the year of the Ice Bucket Challenge, so we wanted to contribute by expanding our plant and creating the “Ice Pavilion”.

We received the Honourable Mention in Prémio Produto Inovação COTEC.
